Who was Uzziah?

Uzziah the son of Amaziah was sixteen years of age when he was crowned King of Judah. He restored much of Judah after the years of destruction brought be his forefathers. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord and continued to seek God.

He fought the Philistines and Arabians who lived in Gur-Baal. He would build towers in Jerusalem and fortify them. An elite army of 307,500 would assist him in battle. Even more important he actually equipped his men with proper gear. They had shields, spears, helmets, body armor and bows and slings. In Jerusalem he made engines of wars invented by skillful men to be on the towers and on the corners for the purpose of shooting large arrows and great stones. His fame spread very far and he was considered to be marvelously strong.

However, pride seated itself in him. He fell away from God and entered the temple and burned incense. The priests of the Temple approached him and asked him why is he doing this. Instead he became enraged by the priests and he broke out in leprosy. Everyone recognized this as a judgment from God upon him.
