Boaz was a wealthy man of the Elimelech family. He is known as the kinsmen, which implies some amount of strength and ironically his name literally means strength. Known as a mighty man of valor. His estate included a large amount of fields, in which he would allow Ruth to eat from. He was considered generous and kind.
Boaz would awake to find Ruth lying at his feet. Her husband had died recently making her a widow. He then pledge to marry her if the brother of her husband did not. He went out and made a case to the man that he should marry Ruth and claim the lands. He would later have a son named Obed. Boaz would be known for his charity and mercy toward Ruth from that point forward.
