Asa was the son of Adijah. Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He expelled the male shrine prostitutes and got rid of all the false gods. He even disposed of his grandmother, Maakah the queen mother, because of her worship of Asherah. He would destroy the Kidron Valley and burn it.

Asa’s heart was fully devoted to God and he brought gold and silver to the Temple. Baasha the new King of Israel would come against Asa who was King of Judah. He would give a large gift of silver and gold to get the King of Damascus to break his treaty with Baasha. He would conquer much of Israel during his reign. His reign lasted forty years.
